As you might already know, I’m going to release my first short story on May 15th, here on my blog!
It was really scary to put myself on the spot like this, giving myself a deadline to meet, but I think it’s been good for me. Sometime pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is exactly what you need.
And here I go. Jumping into the deep end.
The title and cover for the May 15th, 2018 short story is…

I’m still working on a little “blurb.” The story is just over 800 words, so a blurb seems a little silly. Maybe if I can keep it to one or two sentences.
Anywho, let me know what you think of the title and the cover. Feedback is the only way I can improve. All is appreciated!
So, I try to steer away from putting unneeded stress, by way of promises and deadlines, on myself. But… what the heck.
Here’s what I’m planning…
Short stories! And I’m going to publish them right here. Well, not right here. In this post. But here on my blog. Oh, you get the point. LOL
Now, I need to get my butt in gear, because I’d like to release one short story on the fifteenth of every month. Starting in May.
Though it’s not something I usually do, I’m giving myself a deadline to keep me moving. Of course, I will allow for extenuating circumstances. Health and family come first. Always.
So, mark your calendars! May 15, 2018.
As soon as I have a title, I’ll let you know.
I’m pretty excited. I hope you are, too!
So I’m going to do this quick and dirty from my phone, since it seems this social app is exclusively mobile. Thanks Bree @ Perpetual Fangirl for introducing me to this. I think, if it takes off, it’s going to be great!

Last week was a great start to the new year. I had set a goal of writing 5000 words on the first draft of my WIP, From the Vast, which I’d planned on finishing before starting on the sequel to From Stars, Come Dragons, but I put it aside when the sequel consumed my brain.
I wrote almost everyday last week and as of last night my total word count was 8,414 words!
For those of you who don’t know, a typical young adult fantasy novel will clock in around 70K – 100K words. Since this is the rough draft, which I treat more as a detailed outline, though it will read like a book with dialogue and structure, I will come in well under that 70K this time around. I expect I’ll hit around 40K – 50K on this rough draft and have to add scenes to fix plot holes and descriptions later. I could be way off, of course, but this is based on my past experience.
This week, I’ve set the same 5K word goal. You can see this in the What’s the Buzz? widget on the right side bar of the website –>
Another great thing to come out of last week and starting to write a sequel, was naming the series! And here it is!
From Stars, Come Dragons and its sequels will be part of THE SEVEN STARS series. YIPPEE!! /me goes a little nuts and likes it!
The last few weeks of 2017 were amazing, and the first week of 2018 was just as great!
How was your first week of 2018? Any big plans this year? Resolutions? Share in the comments! And have a great year!
I’m so glad you could stop by. Please take a look around. And if you have any questions feel free to post on the Ask Me Anything or the Contact page!
