Writing: Monthly Update for November

Boy, am I glad November’s over.

Nothing has changed here. And it’s probably going to be longer than I thought before I’m able to jump back in.

Current Novel WIPs:

THE GODWING WAGER – So, apparently saying I’m not going to work on something is a good way for me to get inspired to work on something. After I discovered Kat @ Katastic method for outlining (check out my whole post here with a link to Kat’s video), for whatever reason, this was the book I decided to try it out on. And now I have all three books outlined and am so ready to write this thing!!! I just need to finish my other WIP first.

Son of the Star Queen – Still no further development. This is most likely going to be shelved for a while. It’s the one I’ve done the least work on. Last in, first out.

GuildofTearsTitlecenteredGUILD OF TEARS BLOG SERIES – I tried using the outlining method on this but it turns out I don’t have nearly enough of the world or story developed. Guess I have more work to do than I thought.

Skin and Scale (Sequel to A PRELUDE OF DRAGONS) – This is sitting on the shelf until I’m done with book 1.

A PRELUDE OF DRAGONS – This book… This book is the reason I’m glad November is over. With about 15 days left in the month, I decided to make this my NaNoWriMo project. I had ~40 scenes left to revise and made it my goal to finish them before the end of the month.

But didn’t have the accomplished feeling I’d hoped for because I still have so much more to do.

Currently, I have to write one more new scene before I can start from the beginning and edit for flow and continuity. Then, I plan on doing a line edit of sorts—cutting filter words, looking for redundancies, general clean up.

This has been a struggle but I’m getting there and plan to look for beta readers no later than the first week of January. Because I need it out of my hands so I can work on something else as soon as possible. (That something else being THE GODWING WAGER.)

Short Stories:

If you haven’t yet, check out the short stories I’ve already posted!

Under the Amethyst SkyUnder the Amethyst Sky – Released May 15th. You can read it here!

The Witches in the WoodThe Witches in the Wood – Released June 15th. You can read it here!

Would you look at that! I read a little bit. A very little bit.

Poor Aspen… You deserve so much better.
I had way too much fun reading this for as much as I dislike the characters. I will say, though I’ve never watched a single episode of The Bachelor, this is exactly how I picture them. Selfish, self-important, self-serving, manipulative, distant, I could go on. Yet, I’m going to read the next one. lol, I’m part of the problem…

That was exhausting but I couldn’t put it down. I think it’s safe to say this is the type of book I’m trash for. lol

This series was so much fun to read. The character’s frustrated the hell out of me but it just made me want to turn the page that much faster to see how they were going to screw things up next. Honestly, I’d read a hundred more books like this and I plan on picking up the companion trilogy because of it.

Well… I think that does it. Some ups and downs, but all in all a good month. Thanks for reading and keep moving forward!
